The National Social Science Foundation Major Art Project Proposal Report held in Hangzhou ​

HANGZHOU—On November 21, Hangzhou witnessed the proposal report of Professor Fan Zhizhong’s project "Research on the Development of the Film Industry in China in the New Era”. Professor Fan Zhizhong, vice president of the College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University (ZJU), is the chief expert of this research. The research is in fact a breakthrough for ZJU in the major art project sector of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC).




During the session, Professor Fan Zhizhong delivered an overarching introduction to his project in which he elaborated that his team aims to explore innovative discourse on the contemporary Chinese film industry and to construct applicable principles. Moreover, another objective of this project is to build the ontology of Chinese films in the digital era and ultimately enrich the Chinese film industry’s theory of aesthetics.




The expert panel comprised of Professor Ding Yaping from the Chinese National Academy of Arts, Professor Zhou Xing from Beijing Normal University, Huangfu Yichuan from the journal Contemporary Cinema, Professor Wang Haizhou and Professor Wu Guanping from Beijing Film Academy, Professor Zhou Anhua from Nanjing University and Professor Zhang Ali from Northwest University.

As suggested by the expert panel, the project should take advantage of resources like the university’s computer science and technology expertise and film-related research platforms. The research team is projected to produce benchmark achievements and publish academic works complying with national standards. These achievements are aimed to further promote the innovation, standardization and large-scale production of the Chinese film industry.
