Chulalongkorn University Delegation Visits Zhejiang University for Cultural Exchange

On March 13, a 38-member delegation of faculty and students from Thailands Chulalongkorn University visited Zhejiang University for cultural exchange activities. The delegation was warmly received by Zhao Yupei, Associate Dean of our school, along with over a dozen international student representatives.

 


Founded in 1917 by King Rama VI and named after the modernizing reformer King Rama V (Chulalongkorn the Great), Chulalongkorn University is the oldest and most prestigious higher education institution in Thailand. Ranked 229th globally and 1st in Thailand in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, it is also among the Top 100 Universities for Academic Reputation. In recent years, the university has actively promoted international collaboration, establishing partnerships with over 70 leading global institutions and emerging as a benchmark for higher education in Southeast Asia.

 

 


At the welcoming ceremony, Zhao Yupei introduced the schools development history, disciplinary strengths, faculty resources, and achievements in international education. She emphasized that this visit marks a significant opportunity to deepen strategic cooperation between the two institutions, expressing hope for expanded collaboration in talent cultivation and scientific research through faculty-student exchanges and academic programs. Professor Remy Jarry, the delegation leader, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised Zhejiang Universitys standing as a top-tier Chinese institution. He highlighted the potential for long-term collaboration, particularly in creating more opportunities for Thai students to pursue advanced studies in China.

 

 


During the visit, the delegation toured the Media Experimental Teaching Center and Converged Media Studio, gaining insights into Zhejiang Universitys innovative practices in media education. At the ZJU Museum of Art and Archaeology, international students from our university served as cultural ambassadors, offering expert commentary on the artistic techniques and cultural significance of classical Chinese landscape paintings. The two sides engaged in lively discussions on the integration of traditional art and modern media.

 

 


The Thai delegation remarked that the visit not only deepened their understanding of Zhejiang Universitys academic strengths but also enriched their appreciation of Chinese civilization through cultural immersion. Both institutions pledged to leverage this visit as a springboard for broader collaboration, aiming to jointly advance a new chapter in Sino-Thai higher education cooperation.
