Zhejiang University Signs Dual Master's Agreement with University of Westminster

March 14, Hangzhou/London - Zhejiang University's College of Media and International Culture has formalized an academic partnership with the University of Westminster through the signing of a 1+1+1 Dual Master's Degree Agreement. The agreement was inked by Professor Fang Xingdong, Executive Associate Dean of the college, and Professor Catherine Dormor, Vice-Chancellor of Westminster and Dean of its School of Design, Creative and Digital Industries (DCDI), marking a significant advancement in cultivating globally competent professionals.

 


The hybrid signing ceremony and program briefing featured virtual participation from Associate Dean Zhao Yupei and Assistant Dean Li Siyue of Zhejiang University, with MFA students attending remotely. Westminster's delegation present in London included DCDI Deputy Dean Samir Pandya, MA AI, Data and Communication program leader Pieter Verdegem, media lecturer Nathasha Fernando, alongside Zhejiang's Associate Professor Zhang Hong and five student representatives.

 


During presentations, Westminster faculty highlighted the university's strengths, noting London's recognition as the World's Best Student City for fostering innovation through its multicultural environment. The DCDI school leverages cutting-edge facilities at its Harrow and Cavendish campuses to deliver interdisciplinary education.

 


The dual-degree program offers two specialized tracks: The practice-oriented MA Digital Media program integrates industry trends in digital storytelling and production; The MA AI, Data and Communication combines technical training in data analytics with studies in communication ethics and innovation.Detailed application procedures, tuition fees, and international student support services were explained, with recommendations for early preparation to enhance admission prospects.

 

Post-ceremony, the Zhejiang delegation toured Westminster's Harrow Campus facilities including its library, design workshops, and media labs, followed by visits to four central London colleges. The visit served to strengthen institutional ties while exploring new avenues for academic collaboration.

 


The agreement establishes a framework for student and faculty exchanges, with the first cohort expected to begin studies in the 2024-2025 academic year, furthering internationalization efforts in media education.
