College of Media and International Culture Holds Successful New Semester Work Conference

On March 17, the School of Media and International Culture convened its new semester work conference in Lecture Hall 105. The meeting focused on implementing the spirit of the National Two Sessions and systematically deploying key tasks for 2025, with in-depth discussions on disciplinary development, talent cultivation, faculty recruitment and development, research innovation, and international cooperation. The school's leadership team and all faculty members attended the conference, which was presided over by Associate Dean Zhao Yu.

 


The conference began with Party Secretary Wang Qingwen leading a study session on the spirit of the National Two Sessions. The Two Sessions emphasized that in the new era and journey ahead, we must deeply understand the requirements of Chinese modernization for education, science and technology, and talent, strengthen education's supporting role for science and technology and talent development, and further create a dynamic environment where talents emerge in large numbers and are put to best use.

 

Wang Qingwen then conveyed the key arrangements from Zhejiang University's 2025 work conference. The university requires: strengthening Party building and ideological-political work to maintain strong cohesion, centripetal force, and robust internal spiritual motivation; centering on student development to improve the quality of independent talent cultivation, advancing the new-era moral education project with high quality, enhancing the capacity for cultivating top-notch innovative talents, continuously optimizing the teaching quality assurance system, vigorously promoting the integration of enrollment-cultivation-employment work, and comprehensively implementing the Five Educations approach; continuously promoting the prosperity and development of philosophy and social sciences, strengthening research on the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism, actively contributing to the construction of China's independent knowledge system, and advancing the reform of high-end think tank mechanisms.

 

Wang Qingwen also emphasized the importance of faculty ethics and conduct, requiring all teachers to lead by example, care for student development, and help students establish correct worldviews, outlooks on life, and values through words and deeds, cultivating socially responsible talents with both moral integrity and professional competence.

 


Executive Associate Dean Fang Xingdong deployed key tasks for 2025. He pointed out that 2025 is a year of reform and innovation, during which the school will deepen its internationalization + digitalization dual-drive strategy, focusing on advancing the construction of the Top International Communication Talent Experimental Class, implementing an integrated undergraduate-doctoral cultivation program, and building a highland for global communication talents in the digital era; initiating a new round of curriculum revision, forming interdisciplinary course groups, constructing a micro-specialty matrix, and building a future-oriented journalism and communication knowledge system; strengthening organized research efforts, promoting the construction of media-characteristic think tanks, and establishing international academic exchange platforms. Fang Xingdong stated that through a point-to-area, key breakthroughs strategy, the school aims to achieve comprehensive improvement in educational quality.

 


The successful convening of this conference not only clarified the school's work direction for 2025 but also further consolidated the wisdom and strength of all faculty and students, laying a solid foundation for the school's sustainable development.
