On May 8, the Second Undergraduate Party Branch of Communication Studies at the College of Media and International Culture, Zhejiang University, visited Class 5 (1) of Hangzhou Jingzhou No. 2 Primary School. Under the theme Decoding Childhood Dreams with AI Algorithms: Visualizing Career Aspirations and Cultivating Patriotic Sentiments, they delivered an innovative career planning lesson to over 40 students. Through interactive activities, technological empowerment, and role model inspiration, the course visualized career dreams and planted seeds of ideals. The event was co-organized by the Women’s Federation of Jiangcun Subdistrict.
The session began with branch members explaining the concept of career planning and introducing the diversity of professions. The Career Label Matching game then ignited classroom enthusiasm. Students wrote their dream jobs and three keywords on sticky notes—such as dedication to saving lives for doctors—and deepened their understanding of professional traits through group guessing activities.
Three videos showcased occupational spirits across different eras: Wang Jinxi’s vow to sacrifice twenty years to secure China’s oil fields, the aerospace team’s pursuit of boundless exploration in the vast cosmos, and Ren Zhengfei’s corporate ethos of customer-centricity and struggle-oriented values. Students distilled keywords like dedication, perseverance, and innovation from discussions. Branch members guided them: Career value extends beyond personal growth; it must serve society and contribute to the nation. Stories of scientist Qian Xuesen’s spirit and model worker Zhang Binggui’s dedication further inspired students to draw strength from role models. Listening to these narratives, students realized that a profession carries not only personal growth but also profound national missions.
Leveraging multidisciplinary collaboration, branch members used AI imaging technology to generate professional portraits based on pre-collected data. They crafted career mottos—such as Colors are poems written by the eyes to the soul and Justice is immortal under the rule of law—creating personalized Dream Chips for each student. The Dream Chip unveiling ceremony became the class highlight: one student saw themselves as an astronaut exploring galaxies, another as a judge upholding justice with a gavel, and a third as an Olympic sharpshooter. Technology transformed abstract dreams into tangible visions, fueling students’ curiosity.
Branch member Wang Sirui reflected: This teaching was two-way enlightenment—children gained career initiation, while we deepened our grasp of career planning’s essence. Yuan Maowen added: The children’s passion reminded me that career enlightenment is not just knowledge transfer but values cultivation, revealing practical paths to serving communities.
In the One-Minute Speech segment, students shared aspirations alongside their AI portraits. One aimed to be a street dance instructor helping autistic children; another aspired to medicine, stating: Doctors aided me—I want to save lives; a third dreamed of teaching mathematics to unlock the world of numbers for students.
As sticky notes covered the Dream Career Tree, youthful vows wove a blueprint for the future. Lin Zhenghui, the branch’s discipline inspector, concluded: This initiative aims to help youth forge ideals and nurture patriotic sentiments. Mobilizing our entire branch, we seek synergy between university Party-building and social development to cultivate a new generation for the nation. Branch Secretary Xie Xinan announced: We will establish long-term collaboration with Jingzhou No. 2 Primary School and Jiangcun Women’s Federation for regular career initiation activities, planting seeds of integrating personal aspirations into collective endeavors.
